The Internet offers a wide range of resources for the filmmaker. The usefulness of individual websites ranges from indispensable to complete junk. Here I have listed some of the more useful websites for research, inspiration, planning, problem solving, and further study.

Many of these websites provide links to additional useful websites, so try them out.

Anyone who surfs the web regularly knows it’s a mercurial entity—websites come and websites go. I have tried my best to list the most stable web resources, but I cannot guarantee that all of these links will still be up and running when you try to visit.

Facets Cinémathèque has 35,000 films of every kind for sale on tape or DVD. A helpful and knowledgeable organization with a passion for international and minority interest movies. Be sure to check that they have the film you want in the format you can play. (Banish compatibility problems by investing in a zone-free DVD player.)

University Film and Video Association. An organization for North American screen educators. Includes funding and screening opportunities for students.

B & H in New York City is simply the biggest supplier of camera, video, and sound equipment in the country. Their inventory is humongous, their information prodigious, and their prices are usually the best.
