Education During the Pandemic

The impact of COVID-19 on global education systems throughout the world and at all levels, has meant that many teachers have had to transition from in-person teaching to online teaching in a very short space of time.  The ‘Routledge Experts On … Education’ site has been designed to help educators with the challenges their facing resulting from the global pandemic. With more than 60 videos from over 50 Routledge authors from across the Education sector, these short videos offer quick and actionable tactics and practical solutions to real problems that educators may be facing. In addition, there’s a wealth of peer-reviewed articles highlighting distance learning and best practice, which showcase key, recent scholarship on online and distance learning. Community College Journal of Research and Practice’s article, “The Virtual Academy: Assuring Online Teaching Success” is a foundational, must-read text for online teaching, whilst “How the coronavirus pandemic may be the discontinuity which makes the difference in the digital transformation of teaching and learning,” which appears in Interactive Learning Environments, explores how COVID-19 could be a pivotal moment for online learning.  A fascinating retrospective piece “What we wish we would have known: tips for online instructors”  in College Teachingprovides insight for new online instructors, and the following key articles highlight how to optimize learning environments to ensure inclusivity  and foster interactive discussion.
