There are several different ways to assess psychopathology, including self-report measures and interviews. Personality can be assessed using self-report measures and projective tests. There are several ways to assess the quality of all of these instruments including reliability, which refers to consistency and validity, which refers to the degree to which evidence and theory support the interpretation of test scores.
